AMES - Municipal Energy Agency of Sintra (PT) was established in 1997 under the
SAVE Programme of the European Commission, AMES is a non-profit association promoted
by the Municipality of Sintra. AMES has the mission to define measures that contribute
to the increase of Rational Use of Energy and also to promote Renewable Energy Use,
in order to the Sustainable Development of Sintra.

AMES activities aim at the promotion of a sustainable development of the municipality,
thus the agency has a long history of participation in EU co-funded projects, namely
under the IEE Programme (both on ALTENER and STEER).

Sintra is a municipality located at about 30 km from Lisbon, with an historical
centre classified as an UNESCO World Heritage site. Some of the major challenges
the municipality is dealing with concerns energy efficiency, GHG strategies and
sustainable mobility. Hence, we are interested in looking at possible collaboration
between your organisation and AMES regarding the submission of a project proposal
under the current IEE call, with particular interest in the following areas:

• public lighting
• eco-driving
• mobility (especially if includes electric vehicles)
• buildings
• renewable energies (solar, biomass and waves)
• education
• awareness raising campaigns towards the domestic and services sectors

Due to its experienced and skilled staff, AMES can be an active partner and give
a valuable contribution to an eventual project.
