Ethical issues in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Research and Development

Increasing attention is being paid to ethical issues relating to research and innovation as society, investors and research funders have become more critical of the implications of new developments.

In areas such as life sciences the ethical issues are well communicated, but for many engaged in ICT these may not be so obvious.

This newly developed workshop provides a compact introduction to the topic of ethics for ICT practitioners. It aims to give participants confidence so that they are able to identify the ethical issues with respect to their own work, and understand the implications for the future.

The workshop will be given in English.

Target group:

The workshop is particularly suitable for those whose work is likely to be subjected to ethical review. This includes researchers, research managers involved in ICT. Given that the topic is receiving wider public attention, it will also be useful for SMEs developing commercial applications. European and national funding advisors may also find this a helpful introduction to a topic on which they may have to give advice.
